Britney Spears teamed up with Superbad star Jonah Hill to open the MTV Video Music Awards with a not so inspiring skit.Hill tried to kiss Spears in her dressing room, insisting it was a relaxation technique - but the pop star turned down his corny advances.
Russell Brand seemed nervous and out of place as the host. He sounded like a circus barker as he got the show going and then slipped into political satire. Early in his opening monologue, Brand pleaded: “Please, America, elect Barack Obama. On behalf of the world.” Brand also referred to President Bush as “that retarded cowboy fellow.”
Christina Aguilera made her comeback; in what was her first public performance since becoming a mom in January (08), the busty blonde showed off her new X-Men-style look and disco sound. Wearing black leather and a black eye mask, the Genie in a Bottle singer stunned with new single Keeps Getting Better.
Other performers, like Pink who shimmied down two stories worth of rope in platform heels for her performance of “So What (I’m Still a Rock Star), T.I . and the Jonas Brothers used the VMAs’ Paramount Pictures site to launch into tunes from the studio’s backlot.
And the night was full of live collaborations - Kid Rock performed his summer anthem All Summer Long with Lil Wayne, while Rihanna and T.I . teamed up and Leona Lewis tackled the Animals’ Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood with Lil Wayne.
Kanye West brought the climax to the show a year after insisting he’d never return to the event after his treatment at the 2007 VMAs in Las Vegas.
Russell Brand seemed to anger American Idol champ Jordin Sparks when he made fun of purity rings at Sunday’s 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.
During his opening monologue, Brand (a confessed former sex addict) repeatedly joked about the Jonas Brothers’ purity rings, saying they should take advantage of their celeb status to get lucky.
Before introducing T.I., Sparks who has been open about wearing a purity ring defended the Jonas Brothers’ saying:
“I just wanna say, it’s not bad to wear a promise ring because not every guy and a girl wants to be a slut, OK?” she told the audience. The crowd cheered.

Pop singer Christina Aguilera has released a new fragrance for women that she is calling ‘Inspire’. The perfume is being made and distributed by Proctor & Gamble. The fragrance is just the opening act for Aguilera who expects to have a new album out before the end of the year.
The outer packaging is red because “it’s fun, it pops.” A touch of pink is meant to add playfulness, she said, the teardrop shape of the bottle is the classic statement and the silver-colored, saucer-shaped top “brings in the modern appeal.”
Her licensee, P&G Prestige Products, is entering the celebrity sweepstakes with Aguilera and has studied the category with the kind of thoroughness that the Cincinnati-based consumer products behemoth hopes will propel it to the head of the class.
Famed director/photographer David LaChapelle created and directed the commercials for the ‘Inspire’ fragrance. So X-Tina is likely sexy, nude, hot and exposing plenty of skin for her fragrance to pour over.
David LaChapelle filmed the scent’s print and TV commercials in Los Angeles. Created with the P&G fragrance team together with International Flavors & Fragrances, Aguilera started working on this fragrance while on her last tour.
You aren’t A-list in Hollywood until you have your own fragrance. Just how many scents can humankind create to pair up with all of these celebs? The only celeb fragrance I ever had was Michael Jordan cologne. Been working on that bottle for about 12 years. You guessed it…I am all naturally smell good. I only added 20 squirts of Jordan cologne when I needed to get rid of a needy female.

At the launch of his new album with his band, The Boxmasters, Billy Bob Thornton made a sarcastic remark about his ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
Billy Bob said, “She is just going through a high school phase. You know dating the quarterback of the football team with Brad Pitt over there. She’ll be waking up from that dream in no time. Who knows if I’ll be there when she’s ready to come to her senses though.“
I hope he was joking! Angelina married Billy Bob in 2000 after they met on the movie set for ‘Pushing Tin’. The pair divorced three years later, with Angelina claiming they had both changed and “had nothing in common”.
In other Angelina news, she is reportedly in talks with French fragrance house Coty to put out her own line of fragrences. A source said, “Angelina wants a very strong input. She wouldn’t want a fragrance that she didn’t feel encapsulates her.”
Having a perfume line has proven to be a lucrative endeavor for many celebrities. Other stars who have their own super-successful perfumes include Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani and many others.

Christina Aguilera is being criticized for continuing to party despite having a young baby. She loves her child, Max, she says, but she also says she deserves to have a mommy-daddy night with her hubby. Especially since she spends the whole day with her son. “Everybody has an opinion and everybody sometimes wants to cause drama,” she said. “But it’s something that comes with what you do and I learned that very early on.”

Pop star CHRISTINA AGUILERA is doing her part to raise awareness about the forthcoming U.S. presidential elections - she’s appeared in a political campaign with her baby son.
The Beautiful hitmaker appears in an advert for Rock the Vote? - a non-profit organisation aimed at encouraging youths to get involved in politics - ahead of the November 2008 elections.
She can be seen singing a lullaby of America the Beautiful to her son Max.
And the star had no reservations about her five-month-old baby appearing in the campaign, insisting it’s “inevitable that he will be subjected to some amount of press”.
She adds, “This election in particular is such an exciting and historical one, and so I was proud to have my son and I stand together for such a powerful moment and message in time.”

Forget what you may have read in the past 18 months about the thousands of dollars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes spent on their baby, Suri, at luxury baby boutique Petit Tresor.
Just pretend you didn’t read about the $45,000 eggshell-blue-themed baby room with a custom-made antique crib and blue walls with floating clouds. Or the spring dresses and T-shirt sets that read “Big Sister.”
That’s because you weren’t supposed to learn the details of their shopping habits, and Cruise and Holmes are taking steps to make sure of that.
After one of Cruise’s entertainment lawyers sent a tough letter to the Los Angeles store, accusing it of leaking confidential and false information that the couple had spent $350,000-400,000 at the store on their daughter, store owner Samantha Winch reached out and made peace.
“We didn’t leak any information,” Winch told ABCNEWS.com. “We don’t leak. It’s our policy not to discuss our celebrity clientele.”
Winch said that she has conducted an “internal investigation” of her staff and is convinced that none of the staffers at her stores leaked the information. The store’s other celebrity clients include Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera.
So, where did the information come from? “One of the shops is on Robertson Boulevard, and there are paparazzi up and down the street all the time,” she said.
As for the amount spent at the store, Winch said that Cruise and Holmes have spent significantly less than the reported amount.
Cruise lawyer Aaron J. Moss said he takes Winch at her word.
“We have been contacted by the store, which has assured us that they will not mention them in the future.”
As for Winch’s claims that none of her employees have leaked information, Moss said that Life & Style magazine printed an on-the-record comment from one of the store’s representatives.
At this point, there is no indication of a lawsuit and “we think it’s been resolved,” Moss said.
While it is common for celebrities to request confidentiality when it comes to their private lives, breaches of privacy do not usually end up in court unless they involve medical records or intimate family secrets.
UCLA Medical Center fired 13 workers and disciplined another 12 for improperly obtaining the Spears’ records when she stayed at the hospital’s neuropsychiatric unit last year. One rogue employee snuck a look at the confidential files of 32 celebrities and high-profile patients in 2006 and 2007.
In 2006, Lopez sued ex-husband Ojani Noa for violating a confidentiality agreement by publishing a book with private details about their relationship. Previously, Noa had sued the singer, claiming that she had fired him as manager of her restaurant without cause.
And Rob Lowe and his wife recently sued two former nannies and an ex-chef, claiming they violated confidentially agreements by divulging personal information about the couple. One of the nannies countersued, claiming that she was sexually harassed, which the Lowes denied.

Christina Aguilera reveals in an interview in this week’s Us Weekly that at her breastfeeding peak, she was an E-cup. She told the mag:
“It’s kind of hilarious! I’ve never fit into an E-cup before. I look at my husband and go, ‘Guess what size this bra is?’ And when I tell him, he’s just amazed. We keep the tags that prove it, to look back for memory’s sake!” (Source)

MOST breast-feeding mothers know that drinking beer can help lactation - including, apparently, Christina Aguilera. The pop tart, who recently gave birth to son Max, went to Crown Bar in Los Angeles last week with hubby Jordan Bratman and friends, who had a few rounds before continuing the party at the Chateau Marmont. A source said Bratman, who stayed sober, drove home.

Christina Aguilera got absolutely hammered last night at the grand opening of Crown Bar in West Hollywood. As you can see she had to be carried out by her husband Jordan Bratman — which he was totally cool with. Japan’s famous giant panda, Ling Ling, has died of heart failure today at Tokyo’s Ueno Zoo. Ling Ling was 22 years and seven months old equivalent to about 70 human years. Ling Ling was removed from public viewing two days ago, because he was suffering from heart and kidney failure. Mourners said a prayer for Ling Ling and placed flowers at a makeshift altar near his enclosure.
