Ron Artest: “Have the balls to spay or neuter your dog.April 11

NBA star Ron Artest has a reputation for being tough on and off the court, but the Sacramento Kings forward has a soft spot when it comes to animals. Familiar with the dog and cat overpopulation crisis, Artest knew he had to speak up. Never one to sit quietly and watch from the sidelines, Artest chose to get involved by posing for PETA’s Animal Birth Control (ABC) campaign and—with the help of a sweet pooch named John Henry—is urging his fans to “have the balls to spay or neuter your dog.”

In his interview with PETA, Artest talks about the importance of spaying and neutering and what he thinks about dogfighting. He also gives some great advice: “You can volunteer your time … just by going to walk the doggies [at your local animal shelter], ’cause they’re just happy to be around someone to touch them.”

Every year in the United States, open-admission animal shelters across the nation are forced to put to death nearly half of the 6 million to 8 million unwanted dogs and cats who pour into their overwhelmed facilities.

PETA’s ABC campaign tackles the issue of companion animal overpopulation. The campaign urges people to do their part by taking simple steps to help end this crisis, particularly by always spaying and neutering their companion animals and by never buying animals from a pet store or a breeder.

Join Artest in being a part of the solution. Sign our pledge saying that you will never buy an animal from a pet store or a breeder again and that you will always practice your ABCs by having your companion animals spayed or neutered.

Artest launched this ad to support California’s latest bill to help animals, The Healthy Pets Act. This bill will ensure that all animal guardians follow their ABCs by having their companion animals spayed or neutered. If you live in California, please click here to support the bill.

The Hills is crossing the pond
The Hills UK coming soon

MTV is launching a British version of The Hills. Us Weekly sums up what they’re looking for from applicants:

The network is seeking applicants between 18 and 21 years old who love being in front of the camera and are passionate followers of fashion, art and partying/clubbing. Wannabe stars should also have “striking looks” and an “aspirational lifestyle.” (Source)

Thanks a fucking lot MTV. Like they don’t already hate us enough over there. I hope this doesn’t spawn a new wave of suicide attacks. Especially not against the MTV Networks building located at 2600 Colorado Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90404. I mean what would a guy like myself do without a show like Making the Band? Oh yeah, right, not watch it even more. My bad.

50 Cent Settlement ReachedFebruary 20

50 CENT might think twice now before acting like a tough guy. A judge this week ruled the rapper has to pay The Post’s deputy photo assignment editor, Jim Alcorn, an undisclosed amount following a 2003 lawsuit Alcorn filed against him for assault. Alcorn, who was a Post photographer at the time, was knocked down by Fitty’s security goons outside a jewelry shop after he tried to snap photos of Fitty, who’d just bought an $18,000 watch. Alcorn was rushed to the hospital and found to have neck and jaw injuries. “A settlement was reached and all parties are satisfied,” said Alcorn’s lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein. A rep for Fitty said, “It’s a legal issue that’s been settled.”

Nick Lachey And Vanessa Minnillo Tying The Knot In AprilJanuary 27

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are planning to marry in April. The former The Newlyweds star - who divorced Jessica Simpson last year - has proposed to the MTV presenter and she is telling friends to keep April free.

A source told the National Enquirer magazine: “They’re moving forward with plans for an April wedding. Since they both love Baja in Mexico it will probably happen south of the border, where they first fell in love. When he married Jessica, Nick had a big splashy Texas wedding with all the trimmings.

“It kicked off their highly rated MTV reality series Newlyweds and began their life in a fishbowl. This time he wants something a lot simpler, so they decided on a low-key affair.”
Nick, 33, announced his split from Jessica in late 2005 and began dating 26-year-old Vanessa last summer.

The source added: “Nick’s known for a long time that Vanessa is the one. At first she held out. But in time she began to realize Nick was the key to her happiness and couldn’t imagine like without him.

“Vanessa feels she’s got Nick just where she wants him. Jessica is finally out of the picture for good. And now the two of them are ready to begin making a new life together.”
